At Kraatje, we recognised years ago that the stems and veins contain their own distinct alkaloid composition and deserve a product of their own.
Alkaloid Profile: A Radically Different Composition
This is where Stem and Vein stands apart from everything else in our range. Total alkaloid content is 1.22%, which places it in the lower end numerically. But the ratios are unlike anything else we carry.
Speciociliatine at 0.49% makes up 39.8% of total alkaloids, more than double the proportion seen in any other strain in our collection (the next highest is 19.8%). Meanwhile, mitragynine at 0.55% accounts for only 45.2% of total alkaloids, in every other strain, mitragynine represents 61-69% of the total. The speciociliatine-to-mitragynine ratio is 0.88, meaning these two alkaloids are present in nearly equal amounts. In a typical strain like Green Borneo, that ratio is 0.19.
This is not a weaker version of regular kratom. It is a fundamentally different product with a fundamentally different alkaloid fingerprint. Speciociliatine is the C3 diastereomer of mitragynine, same atoms, different three-dimensional arrangement, and published research suggests it interacts with receptors differently than mitragynine itself. The near-equal mitragynine-to-speciociliatine ratio in Stem and Vein is something you will not find in any leaf-based kratom powder.
How Customers Approach Stem and Vein
Experienced users commonly add Stem and Vein into their rotation alongside regular strains. The radically different alkaloid balance means it provides genuine variety rather than simply more of the same. Some users mix Stem and Vein with a standard powder to create a custom profile. Lab-tested and gamma-sterilised after vacuum packaging, same quality standards as all our products.
